The 80th EASTERN STATES INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS was packed with Elite Performances in every event…as 22 FLYING CIRCUS Vaulters turned up the heat on the Super X Mondo Runway in the Boys and Girls Pole Vault.
In the early Boys Division… Senior Todd Uckermark(Warwick Valley,NY) came back from a warm up injury to win his first Eastern States Title at 16′ 0″..to edge senior James Deutmeyer(Fordham Prep.NY) who also soared 16′ 0″ for a new school record. Both had close bars at 16′ 6′!! Warwick Valley junior Derek DiBona had a big night with his 15′ 6′ clear and close at 16′ 0″ PR jump for the Purple Wave… Placing 4th was senior Luke Annichiarico(OT,NJ) 15′ 0″…Travis Fountain(MW) 15′ 0″ Chris Rough(Westhill,CT) 14′ 6″ Matt Fay(Iona Prep) 14′ 0″ Ryan Murphy(iona Prep) 14′ 0″ Trevor Knowles(Hunterdon,NJ) 14′ 0′ Pat Lynch(Cranford,NJ) 13′ 6″ am Siegel(NV-Demerast,NJ) at 13′ 6″
The Girls Championship was also exciting for the 8 Circus Vaulters… with Senior Connecticut State Camp Jenna Calandro(Newtown,CT) taking the vault crown with her 12′ 0″ first attempt clear and close bars at 12′ 6″…Junior Katlyn Rymarzow(Pope John,NJ) was fast and powerful in 3rd place at 11′ 6′ … Kara Snyder(Colonie,NY) is coming on strong with her long run and stiffer poles..hit 11′ 6″ for 4th place… Lalli Manly(Burnt Hills,NY) was the Top Soph with her 11′ 0″” 6th place..Erin Leahey(Warwick Valley,NY) made 11′ 0″ PR and National Quals, after her blazing 60.8 relay leg on DMR… Christina Masciale(Pascack Hills,NJ) made 10′ 0″ easily..as did Carolan Frisina(Syosset). Congratulations to all 21 CIRCUS VAULTERS!!!
AMERICAN EAST CHAMPIONSHIPS @ ARMORY
Alfonso Scannapieco(Albany University)… won another American East Pole Vault Championship in the morning edition of “BIG MONDAY”…with his 17′ 1″ vault and is starting his peaking phase now.. Team Mate Nate Hiett(Freshman) placed 2nd at 16′ 2.75 ” and Peter Fagan(Binghamton University Freshman) hit 15′ 9′ for Coach Mike Thompson Vault Team. In the Girls Championship..former Circus Star.. Sarah Haley(Binghamton University) won the P{ole Vault Gold with her 11′ 9.75 jump …as Grace Weisbecker(Vermont University-Freshman) brought home Silver at 11′ 3.75″ and Toni Werner(Albany) came thru at 10′ 4″
MACC CHAMPIONSHIPS @ ARMORY
Manhattan College Freshman…Justin Farrenkopf placed 2nd with his 15′ 3″ leap for Coach Mecca….Marissa Robbins(Manhattan) placed 5th in the Women’s Championship..followed by Bre Brucher(10’4″)…Sarah Moore(10′ 4″0 and Maddessen Weekes(10′ 4″) for the Jaspers!!!!
