       The New Balance Track & Field Center on 168th Street was filled with eager young athletes in every event on Monday with the North Shore Invitational 50 team meeting. The holiday celebrations turned into fierce and spirited competition, especially in the pole vault area near Section’s 444-448. The balcony spectators enjoyed great awe…as Joel Barlow High School, CT… senior.. MILAN SPISEK put on a show with his 14′ 7.5″ school record gold medal win and now qualifies for this years NB Nationals in March. Using his 14′ 6″ grip ..this humble strongman had 2 good bars at 15′ 0″. Warwick Valley,NY senior Isaac Heatley also used his 14′ UCS series for the first time this year..took home the silver at 13′ 0″…Dane Sorensen(Warwick Valley) junior also moved up in poles placed 4th at 12′ 6″…Brendan McShane hit 12′ 0″ for 6th place for Coachj Potter’s Purple Wave! Henry Spangler(New Canaan,CT) 11′ 6″ Matt Warren(Wash’ville,NY) 10′ 0″

       In the morning edition of early sunrise vaulting….JESSICA IPPOLITO(FariLawn,NJ) was sensational with her big fly-over win at 11′ 9″ New School Indoor Record for the Millrose Games bound athlete. This also qualifies Jess for NB Nationals this March. Placing silver was fast improving Julia Nomberg(HHH-West,NY) at 10′ 0″ and Top Freshman was again Genevieve Reilly(Warwick Valley,NY) at 9′ 0″ and solid bars at 9′ 6″ for the Lady Wildcats!!!
      …Just down the turnpike…two great performances were turned in at the Robert Burnett Holiday Classic at Lehigh University Fieldhouse. MADISYN HAWKINS(Coughlin hs,PA) flew 12′ 0″ from her 8 step and then was ever so close at 12′ 6″ with her new poles in hand. This speedster tied her indoor school record and heads for Lehigh University Track and Field team next fall. Abby Norwillo(Pittston Area,PA) is now on the pole vault elite scene this indoor.. This championship diver and vaulter… set a new School record in her first indoor meet with a solid 11′ 6″ clear and near missed for this junior flyer. Abby placed 5th here and in last years PA State Meet. She needs just 3 more inches for Nationals… CONGRATULATIIONS to all CIRCUS VAULTERS!!!!

        Our regular Winter Pole Vault classes resume today (December 27)..Tomorrow (December 28) and Thursday (December 29) at regular times. Our college Alumni Vaulters are scheduled for Friday(December 30) from 2-4PM… Flying Circus will be CLOSED Saturday(December 31 and Sunday January 1 for the holidays.

    Late News… Monday December 19 @ Armory Spiked Shoe Meet

    The 37 Circus Vaulters at last night’s Spiked Shoe Meet at the NB Armory were ready to compete… FULL RESULTS are Coming by Thursday!!! Congratulations to ALL VAULTERS for a FANTASTIC NIGHT on FIBERGLASS!!

    The serious approach produced BIG RESULTS. Northern Valley-Demarest,NJ senior gymnastic champion..Michelle Rubinetti flew to gold with a first attempt clear at 12′ 0″ and then three great bars at 12′ 6″ on her BIGGEST POLE and GRIP of this early season… Club mates Leah Saifi(Gov. Livingston,NJ) also soared over 12′ 0″ and close bars at 12′ 6″.. Pascack Valley,NJ super Junior…Melissa Purcell took the bronze with an Indoor School record 11′ 6″ for Coach Tim Wilson… All three now qualify for National Championships in March!!! The Boys Gold Medal went to Old Tappan,NJ junior speedster Seth Kircheff.. with a BIG Sail over 14′ 3.5″ and three great bars at 15′ 1″ on his Biggest Poles Ever!!! Seth also hit Nationals Qual Standard!!!
