GREAT PERFORMANCES…. along with GREAT HUMAN SPIRIT… carry-the-day for the Band of Flying Circus Fiber-Benders in all three states this past week. CONGRATULATIONS to ALL ATHLETES …. WE ARE PROUD OF YOU !!!!!

The busy week started with the 20th FAST TIMES FESTIVAL at Warwick Valley Central on Tuesday night UNDER-THE-LIGHTS….as OLYMPIC CHAMPION JENN SUHR showed her Pole Vault Warm Up Drills and delighted the 60 High School Teams with auto-graphs..posters and some down home humble “Olympic Spirit”. She found the time to meet and greet over 550 aspiring young athletes in her 2 hour celebration !!! Many thanks Jenn and Rick!!!!

The Girls took flight first…with Samantha Beyar(Monroe,NY) hitting her marks and a 12′ 2″ PR vault for gold…Kara Snyder(Colonie,NY) has bounced back high this season…hit 11′ 7″ and close at 12′ 2″ Section 2 All Time Record attempt…Erin Leahey(Warwick,NY) placed with her 10′ 10″..as did Katlyn Rymarzow(Pope John,NJ) 10′ 10″…Kari Murnane(Lenape Valley,NJ) 10′ 2″ Catherine Walker(Monroe,NY) 10′ 2″ Leah Wachmuth(RCK) 9’6″ …

The Boys also beat the rain…as the” Warwick Flyers”…Derek DiBona and Todd Uckermark both flew 15′ 8″ and each had close bars at meet record 16′ 3.5″(Yamoah-2011) Ryan Herra-Murphy(Iona Prep) look great over 15′ 0″ as did Travis Fountain(Monroe,NY) at 15′ 0″ Matt Fay(Iona Prep) hit 13′ 10″ Luke Amiratri(Farrell) 13′ 2″…Jahkeem Wheatly(Iona Prep) 13′ 2″ for Coach Cahill’s Boomer Giants!!!!

Also on Tuesday night..across-the-border at Danberry High School FCIAC Championships..Junior Maddie Schneider(Darien,CT) set a meet record of 12′ 0″..Rachel Moroknek(Ridgefield) took silver at 11′ 0″..Jessica Thornberry(Darien) 9′ 6″Kristen Mayhew(Darien) 8′ 0″…Natlie Hartwell(Greenwich) 7′ 0″…At the SCC East Champs… Laurel Bailey(Shelton,CT) sailed 10′ 0″ school record.. At the Southwest Conference Champs.. Indoor State Champ..Jenna Calandro(Newtown) won gold at 11′ 6″ Jane Wall(Weston) 11′ 0″ and Ali Moraveck(Masuk,CT) set a school record at 10′ 0″ for the soph!!! Hannah Campos(Weston) 9’0″..Christine Popp(Brookfield) 8’6″ Emma Lloyd(Newtown) 8’0″ Hannah Gluck(Weston) 8’0″ Emily Iatesta(Weston) 8′ 0″ Danielle Cass(Weston) 8′ 0″ !!!!

Section 1 Girls..Leah Wachmuth(RCK) takes gold at 10′ 9″ Dana Rokiecsak(CS) 9′ 6″ Matea Friedel(Rye) 9′ 6″ Alexx Vincent(Arl) 9′ 0″ Maddy Luksha(Url) 9′ 0″
Section 2 Girls…Kara Snyder(Colonie) advances to state with her 11′ 7′ leap and Kalli Manly(BH) also returns to state at 10′ 6″…. In Boys vault action…Ian Allen wins vault at 12′ 9″ for Chatham and makes 800m and 4×800 Relay to state finals.

Section 9…@ Middletown…Todd Uckermark(Warwick) flew 15′ 6″ on small poles…as did team mate Derek DiBona at 15′ 6″ to advance to state..Travis Fountain(Monroe) also vaulted great at 15′ 0″ and heads to Greensboro for the final Scholastic Competition for Coach Glover. Ivan Mieses(Middletown,NY) 13′ 6″ Matt Greenlaw(Warwick) 11′ 6″..In Division 2..Nile Abularrage(RV) took the top spot at 12′ 6″ Adam Hurwitz(Fallsburg) 12′ 0″ for the Comets. Catherine Walker(Monroe) won the Girls vault at 11′ 6″…Samantha Beyar(Monroe) placed second at 11′ 3″ and Erin Leahey(warwick) set a seasonal best at 11′ 0″ for the Purple wave. Kat VanLedje(cornwall) 9′ 6″ Andrea Dolan(Wallkill) 9′ 6″ Alexis Finn(Monroe0 9′ 0″. In Girls Division 2.. the main story was the improvement of soph Sophia Alter(Rondout Valley)… just a 7 foot vaulter this winter…she set a school record of 10′ 0″ to advance to state next week in Syracuse. Amanda Mondini(RV) 9′ 0″ Gabby Agostaro(RV) 8′ 6″ Meagan Hurwitz(Fallsburg) 8′ 6″. New Paltz,NY Soph Samantha Kaplan advances to state with her 10′ 4″ school record last week.

New Jersey State Group Championships…. Three Flying Circus vaulters won State Group Championships this weekend… Leading the way was Old Tappan senior Luke Annichiarico…winning the Group 3 Vault title at 15′ 0″… Katlyn Rymarzow(Pope John,NJ) Non-Public-A title at 11′ 0″(Her 5th State PV Title for this junior)…and Ike Osbun(MKA) winning Non-Public -B at 12′ 6″ for Cach Dan Placentra!!!!!!

Group 1 Boys… Sebastian Camacho(New Providence) 3rd at 12′ 6″…Julia Wilson(New Providence 5th at 9′ 0″ in Gilrs
Group 2 Girls…. Lenape Valley All-Around star..Kari Murnane sailed 10′ 6″ for the state silver medal for Coach Jim Murnane…Jenna Braun(Mahwah) 10′ 6′ for Coach Pasek ThunderBirds!!!
