Coach HUGH CAUTHERS….. Rest~in~Peace

Dear Flying Circus Families ……….

       With a heavy heart, I  sadly report the loss of our Flying Circus Pole Vault Club…..Co-Founder and Special Head Coach… HUGH CAUTHERS. 

        Coach Cauthers was a unique teacher… skilled motivator and a coach for young athletes in various sports and levels… but his greatest success. was as. Soccer Coach…Head Field Event Coach in all the jumping events in the Championship CRUSADERS Track & Field Program at Monroe-Woodbury Central Schools. for over. 45 years.  In that time. he mentored all of his athletes.  and co-coaches with his positivity…  his competitive spirit.  and. his humble gentle voice.

         He formed our Flying Circus Pole Vault Club in November of 1984  and produced. Pole Vault Champions, as well as the Long /Triple./High Jump Events for the last 36 years on all levels.  He is most renowned for his dedication and determination in introducing the Girls Pole Vault event as a real scoring Track & Field event in New York State in  1998.

         Coach Cauthers was. elected into the esteemed…Section 9 Track $& Field Hall of Fame for his outstanding contributions in athletics.

         His leadership was his strong trait and he attracted and convinced his athletes to believe beyond themselves.  He was a Master  Team Coach… the KING ~INNOVATOR  of drills in soccer. and pole vault and a true role model for all of us.

         HUGH CAUTHERS was  …filled. with gratitude…kindness.   and made us all better humans. We are blessed to have his spirit with us.
