New York State Indoor Championships

New York State Boys & Girls flexed their muscles and fiber poles at Ocean Breeze,Staten Island on Saturday at the New York State High School Indoor Championships… and there was plenty of joy and fun for all . Out Flying Circus was well represented on both runways… with 16 athletes pushing their limits on one of our most productive seasons. The Girls flew first…. as Averill Park,NY senior…Alana Carroll … followed her plan perfectly in winning the gold vault medal with a new AllTime Meet Record of 13′ 6″ to surpass Mary Saxer’s meet record of 13′ 5″ (2005). The powerful and humble Carroll also set a new Section 2 Record,School Record and Personal Best… to go along with her Sportsmanship Award during the meet.. Alana moved to her 14′ 1″ UCS Spirit for her jumps at 14′ 0″…with a few close bars!!! She heads to NB Nationals next Sunday with 17 other Flying Circus Vaulters!!! Warwick Valley Junior..Kaeli Thompson placed 3rd at 12′ 9″ and Monroe-Woodbury senior Kristin Lubeski flew a personal best at 12′ 6″ for 4th place medal. Kristen Kolarik(Arlington) 10′ 0″ Gabby Nebiker(MW) 10′ 0″ and Rebecca Baez(No Rockland) 10′ 0″ all return next year.

The Boys Vault winner was senior Charles Crispi of Staten Island Farrell Prep at 15′ 9″ for Coach Cahill… James O’Neill High School senior Josiah Spain placed 5th overall .. with his 14′ 9″ for this Eagle Scout heading to West Point next year. Warwick Valley senior..Dane Sorensen placed 8th overall in Federation at 14′ 0″ clean for this Eagle Scout.. Jacob Baker(RC Ketcham) 13′ 0″ Josh Jeong(MW) 13′ 0″ !!! Congratulations to all vaulters,families,coaches!!!!

The final stop for our Pole Vault Train this Indoor will be next weekends…NEW BALANCE NATIONAL INDOOR CHAMPIONSHIPS at the one and only… New Balance Center…THE ARMORY!!!! This home away from home is the Flying Circus Headquarters for outstanding l performances. This 3 Day meet is a blessing for any young athlete to be a part of… the “Spirit”…the “Thrill” and the “Magic” of the National Stage will last forever… Here are our entries from Flying Circus.
