New Jersey Meet of Champions- The Toms River Bennett Center was the site for the New Jersey State Meet on Saturday..as 20 Circus Pole Vaulters represented our little club with “Abundant Spirit”…. Governor Livingston HS Junior Leah Saifi won the gold medal with her first ever 12′ 0″ leap for Coach Anthony DeFranco. This Indigo Gymnastic Club Level 10 gymnastic star is making a fast climb in pole vaulting and stayed humble with her BIG DAY on FIBERGLASS. Michelle Rubinetti(NV-Demarest) flew to 3rd at 11′ 6″, using her 8 step approach for the first time with BIG AIR at 12′ bar… Jessica Ippolito(Fair Lawn) just a junior sailed 11′ 0″ for 5th….Maxine Earl(Ridgewood) junior placed 7th at 11′ 0″ ..Caitlin Reverand(NV-Demarest) sailed huge over 11′ 0″ for 8th place ..followed by Bridget Muller(Mahwah) 10′ 6″ Nicole Lester(Ridgewood) 10′ 6″ Jackie Helm(Paramus) 10′ 0″ Caroline McGann(Holy Angles) 9′ 6″ and Melissa Purcell(Pascack Valley 9′ 6″. In the Boys section.. Vernon,NJ junior Trevor Hazel placed 6th at 13′ 6″ for the Vikings…Brian Rubenstein(Gov. Livingston) placed 7th at 13′ 6″..Joe Kim(Ridgefield Park) 13′ 6″ Dominic Roca(Mahwah) 13′ 6″ Peter Chen(Delbarton) 13′ 0″ Greg Fuentes(Paramus) 13′ 0″ .. Seth Kricheff(NV-Old Tappan) 13′ 0″ Dave Bausmith(Hunterdon Central) 12′ 6′ and Dante D’Agostaro(Mahwah) 12′ 6′
PA State Meet of Champions….Penn State University was the site…as Hatsboro HS junior Nick Marino took it up with a 15′ 0″ PR for 4th place finish…. and Madeysen Hawkins(James Coughlin,PA) soared 111’0″ again for the 8th place vault medal in this deep state vault meet again this year with Katie Jones(South Williamspost) and VaultWorX leaping 12′ 6′ for the ‘Fiber-Title’.
Utica USATF Invite…. The new track facility at Utica University is pole vault friends…. as Virginia University…Tedi DeMaria(Bethlehem,NY) flew 12′ 0″ in her tune up for Eastern States and NY State meet next week at Cornell. Elity Legg(Delhi) was solid at 9′ 6″ again. Both look forward to STATE VAULT.
NY Section 9 Quals… West Point-Gillis Fieldhouse was ringing with the competitive spirit of real High School sport… Friday in the girls vault..it was Kristen Lubeskie(Monroe-Woodbury) soaring 11′ 0″ for the gold medal and her trip north next week…Sophia Alter(Rondount Valley) placed silver at 10″ 6…and Colleen Leahey(Burke) makes her state trip and becomes the third Leahey sister to excel in the vault. Gabby Nebiker(MW) placed 4th at 8′ 6″ Genevieve reilly(Warwick Valley) 8’0″ and Kayla Maas(Eldred) 8′ 0″ for the green and gold!! The Boys Section was a Saturday afternoon ‘Fun-Fest’…as Washingtonville HS senior Andy Ruebenstahl winning gold at 13′ 0″ on his new poles…Matt DeLorenzo(Wallkill) taking silver at 13′ 0″ and Warwick Valley junior..Isaac Heatley making his state trip at 12’9″. Top Soph honors went to Warwick Valley’s Dane Sorensen…a first year vaulter with a PR 12′ 6″ leap..Josh Jeong(MW) 12′ 0″ Vinnie DePaolo(MW) 12′ )” Chris Endrezzi(MW) 11′ 0″ Kniernan McCarthy(VC) 10′ 0″ and Brendan McShane(Warwick Valley) 10′ 0″ .
College News….. MEGAN” Flips” CLARK (Duke University) soared to the ACC title with her 14′ 10″ jump and in perhaps her most consistent indoor season ever… James Steck(Va Tech) placed 5th with a 16′ 9.5″ fly-over Coach Phillips. Peter Fagan(Binghamton University) hit his new PR last week with a 17′ 3.5″ sail…pictured here at Take-Off with Hands Up and Chest Driven!!!!!
SEC CHAMPS at Arkansas… Former CornwallHS pole vault star… Ariel LaChance never gave up on her dream..leaped 13”1″personal best in her senior year.
BIG EAST CHAMPS… Freshman Catherine Walker9Villanova University) placed silver at 12′ 6″ at Ocean Breeze on Saturday..
IVY LEAGUE…. Here is a story that will warm your hearts… Harvard University senior Lexi Schachne (Staples,CT) has battled a hamstring injury for the past 4 years..returned to place 3rd at IVY CHAMPS with her 12′ 5.5″PR!!!! Grace Shadid (Columbia University) placed 7th at 11′ 9.75″!
MAAC CHAMPS…at the Armory… Manhattan University junior Marissa Robbins won the vault with her 12′ 6.5″ clear and meet record!!! Bre Brucher(Manhattan) 10′ 10″ and Maddessen Weekes(Manhattan) 10’ 4″‘ Winning the Men’s Vault was Rider University junior..Erik Adamcik at 15′ 3″ !!!
SUNY AC CAHAMP..at Brockport… Whitman Oehler-Marx(Brockport) won the gold at 15′ 9″ Matt Greenlaw(Cortlandt) 12′ 9″ and Jess Wheeler)Brockport) 11′ 0″ Dana Rokicsak(Geneso) 10′ )”
