It’s called High School “Spirit” and it’s more powerful than a speeding bullet ! Such was the display all night on Tuesday at the 22nd WARWICK VALLEY FAST TIMES meet Under the Lights at Warwick Valley High. This year’s edition was rocking with music..super performances and friendship spirit from the 50 + teams attending.
Another new school record came from Fair Lawn,NJ junior speedster..Jessica Ippolito,,as she blasted over 12′ 3″ to spare and was close on all three attempts at 12′ 6.5″ on her 13’1″ x 155 UCS Spirit. This was her 5th school record break this season for the CUTTERS!!! She heads to Greensboro Nationals on June 17. Tedi DeMaria(Bethlehen) soared 11′ 9″ with plenty of air and Melissa Purcell(Pascack Valley,NJ) coming off her 12′ 0″ school record last week..placed 3rd at 11′ 9″ for Coach Al Ward and Tim Wilson. This super-Soph also heads to Greensboro Nationals!
The Boys Vault was also exciting and powerful…as Farrell,NY sophomore Charles Crispi won the jump off a won the Catholic State Title last Saturday at 14′ 8″ and heads to State and nationals!.He closes in on the Crispi Family record of 15′ 2″ by older brother Joe from 2014!!! New Paltz,NY junior Dagi Tadesse also went 13′ 3″..as did NFA Andy Matta @ 13′ 3″.
In Connecticut last night… Weston,CT junior Danielle Cass placed 2nd in ClassM States at 10′ 6″. Team mate Hannah Campos(Weston) placed 3rd at 10′ 0″ in Boys Nick Petruzzelli(Notre Dame) placed 4th at 12′ 6″PR and close bars at 13′ 0″.and advances to next Monday’s State Open in New Briton.
In PA STATE MEET on Saturday… Nick Morino(Hatsboro) placed 2nd at a PR 15′ 9″ for the speedy junior… Super-Soph Abby Norwillo(Pittston Area) broke her school record again..with her first 12′ 0″ sail for 5th place..Madisyn Hawkins went huge over 11′ 6″ for 6th ..
IN MASS STATE GROUPS… Pole Vault history was in the making in both Boys and Girls Pole Vault. In Large School Division 4…it was Julia Valenti Day..as she led the North Reading Girls to the State Team Title…with 2 first place events and a runner Up event to win the team title at 99 points. The 12′ 7.5″ vaulter won the pole vault…won the 100m Hurdles at 15.03 school record and placed 2nd in Shot Put at 36′ 9.5″!!! This marks her 4th pole vault State Title ..as she heads to Nationals and dartmouth University next fall. In Division 2 State Champs..the day belonged to North Andover High School Erick Duffy.. Using an improved take off position and drive phase..he sailed 16′ .5″ for a new school and meet record. Erick will be the top seed in this summers Flying Circus Pole Vault Camp in Warwick,NY on July 11-12. Join the excitement of Circus Summer Camp with us!!!
