   A  small group of Flying Circus “Flyers”  invaded    the  Ocean Breeze Elite Meet on Saturday and  solid performances  and  solid  sportsmanship were on review.  The  four state meet was limited  to the Top 10 Boys   and Top 10 girls   entered and it  was the first  super   gathering  of vaulters  since  the one year  Covid lockdown.

   The meet provided   a  super atmosphere of sportsmanship at it’s best.   Athletes..coaches…officals  alll cheering   each other in thos no spectator  event.  It was a glimpse of  what will be  coming back  to athletics  in the  next  few  months. 

RECAP~~~~  In the Morning Girls Division…..the  Circus  placed  4  girls in the TOP 7…with Warwick Valley High School  freshman..LILY BEATTIE  soaring 12′ 0′ personal best  for  the  silver medal.  She  had   a close  3rd attempt  at the  NY State Freshman Class record  at 12′ 6″ held by Erica Ellis at 12′ 4.5″.  Lily used  her  13′ 7 ” x 170 pole to finish the meet on her  birthday.   Monroe,NY senior  LJ/PV star ..Alicia Johnson  flew  11′ 6″  for  4th place overall.  High Point,NJ  junior sprinter/vaulter..Rachel Mason  flew  11′ 0″  for 5th place in her  first trip to Ocean Breeze.  Placing  seventh was Warwick Valley Middle School   sprint/vault  record holder  at 10′ 6″ and   so close at 11′ 0 bar.    The Boys  afternoon section had  three Circus Boys in the  talented   and deep field…  with Wallkill,NY  senior  Louis Martinez  flying  15′ 6″  for  third place on misses… Max Zuckerman of Pascack,NJ sailed   14′ 6″ on his new poles   and Steve Ditelberg,Trumbel,CT..just  a junior..flew high above   his 12′ 6″ Bar in his first trip  to Staten Island.   

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL…….. It  was  fun  to be  with  you and watch  you soar!!!
