The Flyin’ Circus was strong and deep in both the High School and College Pole Vault Events at #124 PENN RELAY CARNIVAL , under mostly sunny and warm skies at Franklin Field. The knowledgable crowd of ‘Pole Vault Nuts’ rocked the stadium for every successful fly-over and gave a thank you applause to every vaulter following there performance. Yes–large appreciative spectators filled the stadium with “The Spirit of Penn” and supported the athletes with hope and promise. Every athlete who participated in the Wonderful 3- day Penn Gathering …together… will be influenced and lifted up to the next level of performance. It’s your turn now…to…STEP UP and meet your challenge. THANK YOU ALL for a GREAT PENN RELAYS !!!!!!!!!!

Penn Relays…Girls Championship Pole Vault

Thursday April 26 —- Averill Park,NY Indoor NY State Pole Vault Champion…ALANA CARROLL sailed 12′ 11.75″ to win the Penn Relays Gold Watch and used her 14 foot pole in close attempts at Emily Savage(Weston,CT) All Time Meet record at 13′ 2″. This Harvard University recruit, Coached By Hugh Cauthers, was ready from her seven step approach all day. Placing second was Warwick Valley,NY junior…Kaeli Thompson in a new outdoor school record leap of 12 7.5″ for Coach Potter’s Purple Wave. Abby Norwillo of Pittston Area,PA vaulted strong over 12′ 3.5″ (5th ) for the Penn bound Multi-Event star. Melissa Purcell of Pascack Valley,NJ placed 6th for Coach Tim Wilson at 11’11.75″ and heads to Northeastern University next fall.. Megan Biscoglio of Southington,CT was solid over 11′ 11.75″ for the UCONN recruit from just 5 Rights!!! Kristin Lubeskie (Monroe-Woodbury,NY) flew 11′ 11.75″ for the Crusaders ..coached by Chris Goodwin…. and will enroll at the University of South Florida next fall…Northern Valley-Demarest,NJ..junior..Sydney Woods came thru big on her biggest poles ever for Coach Mike Ives at 11’11.75″ and ever so close at 12′ 3.5″!! Dani Heine of Abington Heights,PA continues to improve and fly high…with her 11′ 5.75″ sail for Coach Mike Ludka’s Comets and Lauren Saifi of Governor Livingston,NJ sailed big over 11’0″ for the Mommouth University recruit and then flew 12′ 0″ in her Saturday Invitational at the Paul Beck Relays in Millburn,NJ!!!!

Saturday April 28 —- East Pennsboro,PA ..senior Football/Track star…Payton Morris (Senior) came into Franklin Field with much to prove. This UPENN recruit put on a show with his 16′ 4.75′(5m) sail for the Gold Watch and then took 2 shots at Jordan Yamoah’s Meet Record of 16′ 6.5″!!!! Coached by Matt Concannon of VaultWorX and HS Coach Mark Morris !!!!! Placing forth was Charles Crispi of Farrell,NY. with his 15′ 5′ sail for Coach Jerry Cahill. Placing 6th was the return of Johannes Stromhaug of Vestal,NY at 15′ 1″ for this Cornell University bound vault specialist coached by James Cerra. Johannes had 2 very close bars at 15′ 5″!!! Tyler Hrbek od Northern Valley-Old Tappan,NJ was super over 14′)” for Coach Jeff Clark and heads to UCONN next fall to continue his athletics and academics. Dane Sorensen(Warwick Valley,NY) was solid all day in his first Penn relays appearance for the Cortland University bound Sprinter/Vaulter of he Purple Wave Crew.

Circus College Vaulters Soar @ Penn…. Congrats to 8 former Circus Vaulters competing well in the vault…Samantha Beyar of Binghamton University flew to a silver medal at 12′ 5.5″ …..Michelle Rubinetti of hometeam UPENN sailed 12’0″ and close bars at 12′ 5’5″… Amanda McNeil of Villanova made 12′ 0″ and Madisyn Hawkins of Lehigh University Mountain Hawks ..sailed 11′ 5.5″ and then 12’0″ at the Saturday Invite. The Men were led by Travis Fountain of Binghamton University at 1′ 5’…Chris rough (UCONN) 15′ 0″ Marc DeLuca(UCONN) 15′ 0″ and Martin Desmery (Ithaca University) 15′ 0″!!!!
