The Hudson Valley Flying Circus Pole Vault Project

The spotlights were on the pole vault runways this weekend…as Circus athletes turned up the heat with strong performances in five states. This weekend marks the half-way mark to this indoor tour of Fiber-Bending Winter Track & Field. CONGRATULATIONS to all our athletes and parents for another GREAT SHOW!!! In all 12 Personal Bests… 5 School Records…. 6 State Relay Champions… and many wonderful stories of toughness…sportsmanship and friendships!!!!

Boston,MA…leading the boys results this weekend was ERICK DUFFY of North Andover High School,MA. This talented senior captain flew to a NEW ALL TIME MASSACHUSETTS HIGH SCHOOL INDOOR POLE VAULT with a clean 16′ 4.75″(5m) and 1 very close jump at 16′ 10.75″ New England Record!!! Erick is heading to his 16′ 1 UCS Spirit Poles this week … for the NYRR MILLROSE GAMES on February 11th at the Armory. This performance took place at the Greater Boston Track Club’s meet at Harvard University today!!! Erick was on his 8 step run and had the 13′ 1″ Takeoff for club coach Brenner Abbot!!!! Another notable performance came from Dagi Tadesse of little New Paltz High School,NY. Jumping at West Points historic Gillis Fieldhouse on Saturday and in just training flats…Dagi sizzled over 15′ 0″ for a New School Record and now leads NY State Indoor List. Dagi Tadesse now becomes the 50th FLYING CIRCUS athlete over the 15 Foot Barrier!!!
The Circus Girls also were ready-to-fly…as LEAH SAIFI (Governor Livingston,NJ) set her School Indoor Record at 12′ 6″ (USA#10) and teamed up with her sister Lauren(10′ 6″) to set a All Time Group II State Relay Record of 23′ 0″!! This sister act of Indiago Gymnastic Champions keeps getting better each week!!! Over in Kutztown University,PA..It was another meet record for James Coughlin.PA senior Madisyn Hawkins sailed 12′ 0″ for the 5th time this indoor season and was close at 12′ 6″ bar. She heads to NYRR Millrose Games on February 9th at Armory!! Taking the gold medal at the Yale Invitational was senior Lauren Russo of Newtown,CT. This all-around senior athlete at Newtown went big at 11′ 0″ for Coach Russell. Sisters Caroline and Jennifer McGann of Holy Angels ,NJ won their State Championship Relay title at Toms River on Friday..with Caroline jumping 10′ 6″ on borrowed poles and Jenn sailing 7’6″ for the Non-Publiv A State Title> Ryan Vimba(Ridgewood,NJ) was the class of Group IV with his 13′ 6″ PR!!!
