The Flying Circus Jet is now …”In-the-Air” !!! Congratulations to every athlete on our little pole vault club and our High School teams in the five surrounding states this past weekend at 5 different meets. They gathered at West Point Gillis Fieldhouse on Friday/Saturday…at the New Balance Track Center Armory in NY City both days and Ocean Breeze on Saturday in Staten Island.
They all came to express themselves thru the joys of movement and the unity of teamwork. The concepts of spirit..kindness and helping each other were the main goals achieved in all the venues. Thank you all for making pole vaulting a team event…… sharing poles…catching steps..helping each other with stress and anxiety…thanking officials …honoring you schools with sportsmanship and humanity….. These are the traits that last forever..long after our careers are over… Thank you all for a GREAT SEASON start up!!!

Girls Highlites… Friday Night Fun at the Armory Meet saw Senior Abby Norwillo(Piston Area,PA) set a Meet and School Indoor Record at 12′ 6″ for the gold and USA#2 Performance.and close bar at 13′ 0″ from her 8 step..Warwick Valley Junior..Kaeli Thompson placed second with a school record 12′ 6″ for the junior sprinter and close bar at 13′ 0″ for Coach Potters Purple Wave. Coming out of the shadows..was junior Sydney Woods(Northern Valley-Demarest,NJ) with her 12′ 0″ personal best for the Lady Nordsman/women and NB National standard mark. Washingtonville Daniella Raymond and Ava DeFlice(Cornwall took the West Point titles.. Alana Carroll(Averill Prk,NY) took silver at Ocean Breeze at 11′ 6″ for the Harvard bound Section 2 record holder..Danielle Heine of Abington Heights,PA..just a junior…sailed big over 11′ 6″ and close bars at 12’0″ !!!!
Boys Highlites…. Friday Night Fiberglass Action @ the Armory…12 Circus athletes supported each other..as Warwick Valley,NY Senior Dane Sorensen placed second to Colin Duggan…with a big sail over 14′ 6″ at 10:30pm and ever so close at 15′ 0″ bar for the third time this season!! Placing third was senior Seth Kricheff of Coach Jeff Clarks Northern Valley Old Tappan,NJ vault crew at 14′ 6″ clear and close at 15’0″.. Team mates Tyler Hrbek(14’0) and Jona Kim(13’0″ completed a sensational 42′ 6″ 3 Man Team Relay score !!!! James O’Neill,NY senior …Josiah Spain won West Point at 13′ 6″ in flats and Tommy Qualter of Clarkstown South,NY flew a school record 13′ 8″ last week in Section 1 Kick-Off meet!!!
