“FOLLOW-YOUR-STAR”… Another great weekend of results…as the 109 Flying Circus pole vaulters enjoyed a stellar weekend of flying -on- fiberglass. Congratulations to all athletes…performance…character….spirit… the undefeated elements of competition. The CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON is here!!!

TOP HEADLINES came from St.Anthony’s junior strongman..Liam Ackerman…coached by Jim Hendersen…with his 14′ 6″ personal best win and now off to the NYRR MILLROSR Jr.Pole Vault event on Thursday night(Feb. 18) at the NB Armory. This former Monroe-Woodbury,NY athlete moved to his 15’0″ UCS Spirit sticks and watch for more in the coming weeks…. In last nights Varsity Classic in the NB Armory.. Bethlehem Central,NY senior Tedi DeMaria used her 8 step and longer poles for the first time this season.. and sailed 12′ 7″ with ease and close bars at 12′ 10″. Tedi has committed to the University of Virginia for next fall for her academics and athletics. She will be coached by Elite Jump Coach Mario Wilson !!!! Congratulations Tedi !!!!!

High School Results…. James Coughlin,PA junior Madesyn Hawkins flew to a New School Record at 11′ 1″ at VaultWorX Fest….getting on her bigger grip and poles… In Toms River ,NJ State Sectionals… It was Mahwah ,NJ senior Jack Muller soaring to gold at 13′ 6″..Trevor Hazell(Vernon) 13′ 0″ Jason Mezhibovsky(Demarest) 12′ 0 Dominic Roca(Mahwah) 12′ 0: and Dante D’Agostaro(Mahwah) 12′ 0″ sweep. Junior Michelle Rubinetti(Demarest) and Caitlin Reverand(Demarest) went 1-2 in Group II with 11′ 6 and 10′ 6″ Bridget Muller(Mahwah) 10′ 6″ Melissa Purcell(PV) 10′ 0″ Grace Gardella(Ramsey) 9′ 6″ Marisa Entrup(Mahwah) 9′ 0″ Erin Yuder(Demarest) 9’0″ and Kyra Muller(Mahwah) 8′ 0″.
At the FCIAC West Championships at Staples HS..Soph Lia Zavattaro(Greenwich,CT) won gold at 9′ 6″..Nate llanos(Danbury,CT ) won Boys at 13′ 0″.. At the Floyd Little Feldhouse,CT Marc DeLuca(Westhill,CT) won at 13′ 0″ Henry Vossler(Darien,CT) 12′ 6″ and Kenny Yamaguchi(Darien) 10′ 0″.

In NJ Group 3 Sectionals… Greg Fuerte(Paramus) won at 13′ 6″ Seth Kricheff(Old Tappan) 13′ 0″ Jona Kim(OT) 11’0″ Matt Mazzacario(OT) 10′ 6″. Winning Gold in the girls section was Jessica Ippolito(FairLawn,NJ) at 10’6″ Jackie Helm(Paramus) 10′ 0″ for silver honors.. At the Morris County Champs at Ocean Breeze,..Delbarton,NJ senior Peter Chan sailed 13′ 0″ for the win and is back from his injuries.

In last nights Varsity Classic… Monroe-Woodbury,NY junior Vinnie Depaolo sailed over 13′ 0″ for Coach Hemmer/Glover and newcomer Chris Endrizzi(MW) went 11′ 6″PR for the Crusaders… The Girls Varsity Vault was a Circus Fest as 7 Girls placed in the Top 8!!! Tedi DeMaria setting a meet record of 12′ 7″..Kalli Manly(BH) 11′ 6″ for third…Michelle Rubinetti(Demarest) 11′ 6″ Max Earl(Ridgewood) 11′ 0″ Caitlin Reverand(Demarest) 10′ 6″ Kristen Lubeskie(MW) 10′ 6″ Nicole Lester(Ridgewood) 10′ 6″ and Melissa Purcell(PV) 10′ )” for Coach Tim Wilson.
