The New York State Pole Vault Meet at Cornell University on Saturday was a BLAST for all the 26 Boys and 26 Girls competing in one of the oldest and most unique Field houses in the USA… BARTON HALL.
These 52 Elite athletes….taking part in our sports highest State level…were a sight-to-witness. Showing composure… spirit…toughness and sportsmanship … and when all the dust settled….friendships were strengthened thru sport. CONGRATULATIONS to all athletes and parents for another day at STATE !!!
Boys STATE FINALS…The morning edition saw Warwick Valley,NY senior DEREK DiBONA win his first NYS Public School Division STATE CHAMPIONSHIP for Coach Mike Potter’s Purple Wave. Using his 15′ 0″ poles thru his 15′ 6″ clear and the Public win..he then pulled out the 15′ 7″ poles at 16′ 0″… The State Federation PV Title went to close friend Ryan Herrera-Murphy of Iona Prep,NY ..with his 15′ 9″ clear for Coach Jerry Cahill. Middletown,NY senior Ivan Mieses placed 6th at 13′ 6″ and Matt Leanza(Suffern) hit 13′ 0″… and Matt Delorenzo(Wallkill) made 12′ 6″.
On-to-Nationals next week…….
Girls STATE FINALS…..It’s the Dream of every athlete to ever compete in the STATE FINALS of any sport…and the 7 Flying Circus Girls were honored and ready… Monroe,NY senior SAMANTHA BEYAR was ready to compete and was clean all day on first jumps and place second with her 11′ 6″ Silver Medal performance for the Purple Crusaders. She was ever so close at her 12’0″ bars..but was gracious and humble in congratulating Kari Stromhaug(Vestal) event winner at 12′ 0″ for Coach Jim Cerra!!! Kalli Manly(BH)..Erin Leahey(warwick)..Tedi Demaria(Bethlehen) … Kristen Lubuski(Monroe).. and …Vivian Mortz(Bronxville) all helped each other all day long!!! Team Pole Vaulting Matters!!!!!!

Congratulations to our 12 Flying Circus athletes for making the NB National Indoor Track & Field Championships this coming weekend. Competition begins on Friday March 13 with the Emerging Elite Competitions… followed by Saturday’s Boys Championship Competition… followed by Sunday’s Girls Championship Competition.
Our Flying Circus will be CLOSED Friday-Saturday-Sunday March 13-15. We will reopen Tuesday /Wednesday with our Open Classes in the evening.
