Our 7 Flying Circus pole vaulters came ready to Rock & Roll… Alana Carroll of Averill Park,NY used her 14′ UCS Spirit to place silver with a new school and Indoor #1 All Time Circus Club leap of 13′ 1.5″ for Coach Cauthers and Coach Duffy (Old Circus Indoor Record..Abby Norwillo 13′ .05″ and Lia Saifi,NJ) 13′ .05″). Alana had a close bar at 13′ 5.25 “. MacKenzie Hayward of Flower Mound, Texas was the Jr Girls Event winner at 13′ 5.25 “. Taking fifth in the loaded 11 girl field was UPENN Bound senior Abby Norwillo of Pittston ,PA at 12′ 5.75”. Adopted Circus Vaulter .. 16 year Alva Sundins of Sweden placed 6th at 12′ 5.75″ for Coach Carl Alm.. and Kaeli Thompson of Wave Track Club of Warwick,NY placed equal 8th at 11′ 5.75″ for Coach Potter Club. Melissa Purcell of Pascack Valley,NJ.. took care of business at Toms River at her SNJ Sectionals for Coach Tim Wilson.

    The Thursday Night Pole Vault Spectacular at the NYRR Millrose Games Jr. Boys Pole Vault was deep in talent and deep in results. Payton Morris of VaultWorX,PA Club (Coach Matt Concannon) set a personal best at 16′ 1.5″ to edge Harrison Rice of Aim High Vault Club,VA also hit PR 16′ 1.5″ for Coach Kyle Bishop. Circus Flyers Dane Sorensen(Warwick,NY) and Seth Kricheff(Old Tappan,NJ) both flew 14′ 7.5″ with room and close bars at 15′ 1.5″… Tyler Hrbek(Old Tappan) soared 14′ 1.25″ for Coach Jeff Clark.

    The best part of the Millrose Weekend..was the friendships our vaulters/coaches /parents developed with Sweden’s legendary Coach..Carl-Johan Alm and his prize 16 year old student vaulter..Alva Sundins. This part is what sport is all about. Congratulations All!!!

    New Haven,CT—- The Greenwich,CT Cardinals used their powerful balanced scoring attack to win the team title at the FCIAC Championships at Floyd Little Fieldhouse on Thursday night.. Senior leader..Lia Zavattaro won her 5th FCIAC pole vault title to lead the charged up Cardinals. This Bucknell University bound honor student will be teaming-up with fellow Circus Pole Vault star Caroline McGann(Holy Angels,NJ) next fall. Senior Zack Matson of New Millford,CT also won the gold medal at Southwest Conference Championships at 12′ 6″ PR on that old Black pole her found in the PV shed!!!

    West Point Division Championships —— Warwick Valley Central had the bus and “Circled-the-Wagons” again with theier best meet of the indoor season… Girl;s win title..Boys runner-up in the team concept system at Purple Wave High School. Kaeli Thompson punced out 22 team points with her pole vault win..3rd in High jump and 3rd in triple jump.. Caroline Fatta placed 4th in vault (9’0) Sydnet Tomaine(FDR) set school record 9′ 6″ in Vault . Lindsey Julian of Wizard Pole Vault Club hit 9′ 0″ Kara Sucato(FDR) 6′ 0″ . Samantha Becker(Sullivan West) won vault 8′ 6″‘ Dane Sorensen(Warwick) won the vault..hit 37/6 in 300m and split 23.8 in relay duty for big pointsd… Jacob Becher(Warwick) flew 11′ 6″ in vault(2nd) Matt Warren(Wash’ville) 11’0″ NickMirecki(Wash’ville) 10′ 6″ for Coach Duffy. Josiah Spain (O’Neill) hit 14′ 0″ in his division…Nick LoForo(Marl) 11′ )’ . In Saturday’s meet. It was ALL MONROE_WOODBURY with the Pole Vault sweep in boys and girls.. Nick Villanueva thw win at 13′ 6″ and Josh Jeong at 13′ 0″ for 18 points for Coach Glover/Coach Hemmer crusaders.. Austin O’Mallet of Goshen won his Division at 10’6″ Freshman Louis Martinez(Wallkill) placed at 10′ 0″PR . Gabby Nebiker(Monroe0 won gold at 10′ 6″PR Kristen Lubeski 10′ 0″ Kaira Coulard-Smith(New Paltz) won at 8′ 6″ Violet Bachorik(Goshen) 7’0″ Ava DeFelice(Cornwall) 7’0″ Shea Ross(Wallkill) 6′ 0″

    New Jersey Groups– Toms River Bubble was exciting ..with Melissa Purcell(Pascack Valley ) taking gold at 11’0″ in Group 3 Arinia Cavalli(Old Tappan) 10′ 6′ Marissa DiGia(OT) 10′ 0″ Kyra Muller(Mahwah) 10′ 0″ Julia- Schraer(Pascack Valley) 10′ 0″ Kaia becker(No Highlands) 10′ 0″ Allison Sumereau(PV) 8′ 6′ … Sydney Woods came thru again. This NV-Demarest junior Rising Star won gold at 11′ 6″ for Coach Ives..Mue Carroll hit 10′ 6 in her groups.

The NYRR MILLROSE GAMES history is rich in Pole Vault Tradition and this year’s three separate pole vault events are loaded with it’s deepest and most competitive fields ever. Meet director, Ray Flynn and Company …has provided the highest flyers in meet history for this edition at The New Balance Track & Field Center Armory on Thursday Evening, February 1 and Saturday February 3. It will be a blend of the up and coming..” Future Stars” in the John Catsimatidis Jr.Boys Pole Vault Event taking place on Thursday evening at 7 PM…with New York Star,,,Charles Crispi of Staten Island heading the field of 15 athletes with his 16′ 3″ Indoor best this winter and three Virginia Jr. Stars over 16′ 0″+ !!! The John Catsimatidis Jr. Girls Pole Vault Event takes place on Saturday, February 3 at 12 Noon and fast Mondo X runway with 12 of the finest Junior Rising Stars in the USA and the fast improving Swedish Youth Champion,Alva Sundins making this event International for the first time ever. Top seeds in the Girls Jr. Pole Vault are Erica Ellis of Rochester,New York..with a personal best of 14′ 1.5″ this winter and MacKenzie Hayward of Flower Mound,Texas at 13′ 6″ (Pictured below). The John and Margo Catsimatidis Womens Professional Pole Vault Event will kick off at 3:58PM on Saturday before a pack house and National NBC TV coverage.
