The Hudson Valley Flying Circus Pole Vault Adventure

…… ’tis the season for spirit” ……. this was the theme at our 10th Flying Circus Holiday Pole Vault Show in the Warwick Center Pole Vault Barn this past Saturday. Family, friends and cousins were packed into every seat and cheered their was thru the exciting day of Fiber-Stick-Vaulting. When the hay and dust finally settled…the 42 athletes punched out 12 PR’s and 4 New School Records and exchanged some down home friendships. The air was filled with “Spirit” ! Thank you all …. athletes,parents,volunteers and staff for a wonderful day together.

Circus Holiday Meet(Dec. 28) ~~~~ West Point,NY junior, Elinor Lemler soared 10′ 8″ for the gold..just edging out Randi Conroy(Allendale,NJ) on fewer misses for the High School Division. Lily Beattie of Warwick,NY won the 8th Grade division at 10′ 2″ for Coach Potter’s Wave Track Club and Rachel Venter(Warwick,NY) equalled her 7th Grade State Record of 9′ 2″. Kristen Kolarik of LaGrangeville,NY won the Open Womens division at 10′ 2″. The afternoon Boys High School Division action was filled with power and muscle….as Nick Mirecki of Rock Tavern,NY. flew to the JOE TEA prize with his 15′ 2″ win and brushed off a PR attempt at 15′ 8″ for the Bryant University signee next fall. Nick Bianco of Massapequa Park,NY set a school record 14′ 2″ for the Chiefs Track Club. Top Freshman was Andy Cimino(Warwick,NY) at 11′ 8″… Top Open Vaulter was Isaac Heatley(Warwick,NY) at 14′ 8″ !!!! Marine Corp Invitational @ Armory(Dec.28) ~~~~ Strong performances at the mecca(NB Armory) on Saturday… as Wallkil,NY ..speedy junior..Louis Martinez won the Invite Pole Vault with a School Record and NY State #1 vault of 15′ 7″ on his new poles and close bars at 16′ 0″!!!! This qualifies Louis for NB Nationals Championship!!! Pushing Louis was Union Catholic(NJ) senior Conor Reilly with a huge fly-over at 15′ 1″ after his USA#1 Sprint Medley Relay performance on Friday night. NY State Outdoor Vault Champion..Shane Racey(Ravena,NY) placed third at 14′ 7″ for the Cornell bound scholar. Max Zuckerman(Pascack Hills,NJ) was TOP SOPH at 13′ 7″. Taking home a gold medal in the Varsity Pole Vault Event.. was Dalton Yeust of Tunkhannock Area,PA with his 14′ 1″ crowd pleaser. In the Girls Frosh/Soph Pole Vault…..it was all Angelisse Diaz of Newburgh Free Academy,NY with the win at 9′ 1″. The Girls Varsity PV event… featured Bella Gray(Union Catholic,NJ) ..placing second at 10′ 1″ SB and Jules Gravier(Bronxville,NY) also at 10′ 1″.

The Hay is in the Barn ~~~ Welcome to the harvest !!!!! The Flying Circus 5 Month Training Cycle is complete and the athletes are moving their personal bests this early season. There were 33 Flying Circus Pole Vaulters in The Armory Coach St. meet on Friday night and the jumping was electric… as the Circus Girls took the TOP 7 places..with Marisa DiGia(NV-Old Tappan,NJ) sailing 11′ 1″ in the jump off with Sophie Mareck(Wash’ville,NY) for gold…. The Boys Stick Jumping Event was loaded with talent and 41 guys flexing their muscles…Washington,NY senior Nick Mirecki flew a school record 15′ 6″ for Coach Duffy and Coach White and qualifies for the championship section at NB Nationals in March. Placing third was the strongman himself.. Dalton Yeust(Tunkhannock,PA) at 14′ 6″ and strong School record attempts at 15′ 0″ to lead the 15 Circus Boys.

In todays Circus Youth Pole Vault Tour…history was made again…as Rachel Venter(Warwick Valley Middle School,NY) seventh grader broke the NY State All Time 7th Grade Class Record with her 9′ 2″ leap on Essx. The old 7th grade record was by Warsaw,NY Standout..Karmen Auble @ 9′ 1″ in 2009 at the Flying Circus Golden Vault. Lily Beattie(Warwick Valley Middle School.NY) flew 9′ 8 for the 8th grader and Andy Cimino(Warwick Valley,NY) Freshman sailed 12′ 0″ to win the JOE TEA first prize. Luke Beattie of Warwick Valley won the 6th greade event at 7′ 2″ PR!!!!
